Calendar of Events
Recent Projects: Silent Auction
Alumni from many different years and programs joined together to raise funds to primarily support Goddard College’s Annual Fund, with a portion being donated to the Black Visions Collective in light of contextual events.
Dates: The auction was live from June 2-16, 2020 using the BiddingOwl online platform.
Important Context:
This event was held in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The auction was announced to the public on the same day that Geroge Floyd was murdered, and it went live for bidding exactly one week later in the midst of widespread Black Lives Matter protests.
This was the first Silent Auction ever run on behalf of Goddard College. As such, we (the Goddard College Alumni Council) expect that both engagement with and the success of another Silent Auction would increase if repeated in the future on an annual basis.
To engage alumni and the Goddard community in a creative fundraising effort that was fun and interactive.
3 Alumni Council members organized the event by soliciting donations, building the website, marketing the event, and other preparations.
2 Goddard staff members supported the event through marketing and communications.
There were 22 unique donors to the Silent Auction, collectively donating 43 auction items.
18 of the donors are Goddard College alumni.
1 donor is a current undergraduate student at Goddard College.
1 donor is a former Goddard College faculty member.
There were 33 unique bidders in the Silent Auction, collectively bidding 100 individual bids on auction items. A total of 58 unique people participated in some capacity in this auction.
- The Silent Auction raised a total of $2033.50.
- This is an average of $61.62 given per auction bidder and an average of $47.29 given per auction item.
- The BiddingOwl platform took a 5% fee from this total ($101.67)
- To support the Black Lives Matter movement, the Alumni Council chose to donate 10% of the proceeds to the Black Visions Collective ($203.35)
After these deductions, a total of $1728.48 went to Goddard College’s annual fund.
