COMMUNEity in Your Community
Gather with Goddard community members, including alumni, students, and faculty to discuss the founding principles of the Goddard education and how to bring those values and practices into your home communities! All participants are expected to read a selection of chapters (less than 50 pages) from “To Know For Real: The Story of Goddard College” by Ann Giles Benson in preparation for this discussion. These selections will be provided via email by the Alumni Council to all registered participants in PDF format.
New Goddard President, Dan Hocoy, told current students and faculty that “We need to operate more like a college than a commune.” This comment did not sit well with pretty much anyone that’s been involved at Goddard prior to his arrival. The Alumni Association is excited to facilitate a discussion about how our commune-education was/is a transformative experience and how to replicate it as much as possible in our own COMMUNEity.
