Alumni Weekend 2020
a virtual gathering
This virtual residency begins Friday, 9 Oct with a Campus Tour (4:00-5:00p.m.) for those who want fresh air, fall colors, and nostalgic vistas. Share a Welcome BYO Dinner/Drinks Social to catch up with fellow alumni. The Opening Circle covers speed intros, weekend goals, and planning logistics. Enjoy readings at our Writers’ Salon before a night-owl gathering around the bonfire—check out the oven-melted S’mores recipe.
Meals are BYO socials: breakfast (7:30-8:30), lunch (11:45-12:45), and dinner (6:00-7:00). While spiritual nurturing starts at 6:00 a.m., the official day begins at 9:00. Saturday’s Morning Circle leads into our themed discussion “Anchor with Goddard.” Who/What did it mean in your past, how/why is it part of your life today, and when/where is it going in your future? Creations of the Mind inspires, so bring your blank slate, canvass, journal, or laptop. Study Planning Part 1 is a Goddard tool for success and lifelong learning. Workshops, discussions, a scavenger hunt, and our annual Association meeting complete the day, with a Plethora of Pecha Kucha after dinner followed by a bonfire.
Sunday, morning people can again enjoy spiritual nurturing before breakfast. Then, make sure you look your best for the photo shoot during Morning Circle. The day continues with workshops, an “Antiracism in Practice” discussion, a town hall with President Bernard Bull, and a game show. Part 2 of Lifelong Study Planning will round out the day. Our traditional Cabaret and final bonfire follow dinner.
Our final morning, Monday, 12 Oct begins with spiritual nurturing. After breakfast we’ll discuss Next Steps for the Alumni Association and Alumni Weekend 2021 (planning, theme and volunteers). In the traditional Closing Circle we’ll cover nominations to Alumni Council & voting schedule, reunion survey & contact information, and fundraising totals for the weekend.
